Orzysz – WWI cemetery

The war cemetery in Orzysz survives in excellent condition. It consists of a German and an Allied section.

The Allied section of the cemetery contains remains of Russian and French soldiers, as well as a British soldier. Here lie soldiers who fell in battle or died in the POW camp in Orzysz. There is also a monument, with the following inscriptions in French and Russian on its side panels: “To the memory the French soldiers who died in bondage”, “May your ashes rest in peace, dear brothers”, “God is not in strength but in truth”.
