A treat for both young viewers and their parents. When talking about TARAPATY 2 (TRIPLE TROUBLE 2), one of the actors, Tomasz Ziętek, enigmatically hints: “I recommend that anyone who cares about impressionist paintings gives the movie a watch”.
The filmmakers were inspired by the true story of how the only Monet in the Polish collection was stolen from the National Museum in Poznań. The result is a story about a madcap holiday adventure and an unpredictable criminal mystery. Marta Karwowska, the director and screenwriter, says: “… even as the work on the script began, the producer Agnieszka Dziedzic and I knew that, in this instance, we wanted to leave Warsaw and shoot in natural locations. We wanted a bona fide holiday film – a forest, a lake, the sun”.
The film was well-reviewed by the experts of the 4th Warmia-Mazury Film Fund Competition: Jerzy Stuhr, Joanna Kos-Krauze and Andrzej Serdiukow. The Warmia-Mazury Film Fund Competition Committee, which co-financed the production, was of the same opinion. Out of the 36 days of the shoot, spanning the summer of 2019, the film crew spent 11 in Warmia promoting a part of the region.
The Warmia-Mazury Film Fund’s Inspection Committee noted the film’s role in keeping family cinema alive as a rare genre in Polish cinema, as well as its efficient, fast-paced narrative, likeable characters and a well-selected cast of actors both young and experienced (including Joanna Szczepkowska and Zbigniew Zamachowski). The film’s strengths extend further still to the cinematography by Jakub Burakiewicz and the captivating soundtrack – including “Jeśli powiem”, a song written specifically for the movie. “Jeśli powiem” is the third single by Marcin Maciejczak, composed by Dominic Buczkowski-Wojtaszek & Patryk Kumór. Jerzy Rogiewicz’s score is accompanied by multiple songs, including Jacek Kleyff’s famous “Huśtawka” as performed by the actors Pola Król, Mia Goti, Marta Malinowska and Tomek Ziętek.
