Tajemnice de Revolutionibus (The Secrets of De Revolutionibus), directed by Michał Juszczakiewicz, premiered on 11th December 2017 in Lubawa – the very same town where, in the mid-16th century, the decision was made to print the seminal work of Nicolaus Copernicus that outlined his theory of heliocentrism.

The documentary film was co-written and produced by Robert Szaj – a great lover of astronomy and the general director of the Truszczyna-based foundation Fundacja Nicolaus Copernicus.

The fascinating story – told in part, but not exclusively, through the voices of eminent Polish and international experts on the subject – is made all the more powerful through the excellent, dialogue-free dramatizations, with the role of the astronomer played by the superb actor of the Gdańsk Wybrzeże Theatre, Florian Staniewski (who unfortunately passed away not long after the production concluded). The success is owed undoubtedly in no small part thanks to the director, Michał Juszczakiewicz, who is himself a professional actor.
