The Modrzewie Park is situated within the Elbląg city limits. Before the war, it was home to an iconic villa, a conservatory, and a sports complex (including a stadium, a tennis court and a shooting sport range). At the time, the entire estate was owned by Carl Ziese, the son-in-law of Ferdinand Schichau – an entrepreneur, steam engine maker, shipbuilder and philanthropist.
The park’s boundaries remain unchanged to this day. The main parkways also remain intact, as does the make-up of the wood stand, which features such tree species as the Caucasian wingnut, the Canadian hemlock, the Spanish oak and the larch.
