The second-oldest church in Olsztyn, built in the late 14th century.
The actual date of construction is a point of contention among historians, some of whom argue that the church is, in fact, the oldest. The roof is adorned by the flag of St Lawrence and has late-Baroque furnishings inside.
On 3 February 1807, Napoleon Bonaparte was to lead a battle against the Russian army. He ordered his camp to be set up on a nearby hill, where he spent the night devising a strategy for the battle against the Russians which was to take place the following day. Ultimately, this battle did not come to pass, and the day brought only a minor skirmish with the Russians (specifically with the rear guard of the retreating army under Major General Leontiy Bennigsen) place between the areas of Łupstych and Jonkowo.
