Ełk – narrow gauge railways

The Ełk Narrow Gauge Railway is one of the few remaining railways of its kind in Poland still in operation.

Its main function was to provide transport to Ełk for the inhabitants of the surrounding villages, though it was also occasionally used for freight transport. It operated continuously throughout the Second World War and through changes in state affiliation, and provided transportation services for the region up until the 1990s. In 1991 the Ełk Narrow Gauge Railway was officially declared a historical monument.
