KLUCZ WILEŃSKI (THE VILNIUS KEY)

18-04-2024

“I bow to all of you, who came in such droves to today’s premiere. And, in particular, I bow deep to the heroes of this film, those who were displaced from Vilnius and settled in Warmia and Mazury.” – with these words of his welcoming speech, Marshal of the Voivodeship Marcin Kuchciński addressed the audience gathered at this very special event. “KLUCZ WILEŃSKI is a testament to how much we prioritize supporting documentary productions.”These films bring to light, or at least to the forefront, the history of our Little Homeland, with all its quirks and charms.Since 2017, when the Regional Film Fund was first established, we have co-financed 23 documentaries.”

KLUCZ WILEŃSKI, written and directed by Artur Kalicki, is a very important film from a historical and social standpoint, and a professionally-made documentary. Meticulous and grounded in reality, the film explores its subject through a brilliant selection of interviewees. The movie’s strong suits also lie in the competent and quietly engaging guide Piotr Bojarski, and the narrator Artur Kalicki whose steady and understated delivery takes viewers through the stories of Poles resettled from Vilnius to Warmia and Mazury. The film has many strengths placing it among the best ones that have been supported by the Film Fund. Another highlight is the memorable, well-crafted and tasteful cinematography of Jacek Suwor, who also edited the film.

KLUCZ WILEŃSKI was honoured with a standing ovation and thank-yous from the audience at the premiere showing.
