A touching and successful attempt at a portrait of an interesting Olsztyn artist, the documentary presents an admirable struggle to maintain one’s health, to live a normal life, to create. The narrative is original and interestingly presented, and the commitment and maturity of the director certainly shine through – a feat made all the more impressive by this being his directorial debut! Maciej Janicki has created a moving picture in which the passage of time is at odds with the creative, extraordinary mind of the artist-performer Wieslaw Wachowski – a sensitive observer of the world, who emerges as the immovable force in this battle with time.
But it is also a story about the price one has to pay for creating true and bold art, focusing on one’s own body and pushing it to the limit; about channelling creativity to fight illness.
The subject of the film himself, who attended the premiere, was quite pleased with the picture. The premiere was also attended by the well-known and respected actress Irena Telesz-Burczyk who read two short poems by Wiesław Wachowski from his compilation Moja cząstka koła czasu [This Bit of Mine of the Wheel of Time].
