Rańsk – village on a lake

Rańsk, formerly Rheinswein, is a small, picturesque village, whose origins date back to the 14th century.

It was named after Lake Rańsk, on which it is situated. The lake is expansive, but fairly shallow, with numerous coves and inlets. Colonies of cormorants nest on one of the islands.
